So, the other day, I was thinking (probably during class when I should have been paying attention) about fandom size and viewership if there is any relationship between the two. Yes, yes, I know – a lame and weird topic, but this is me. When am I not lame and weird? Especially with fandom (and numbers).
Long story short, I’ve decided that this season I am going to keep track of the fandom activity of new series as well as the viewership (which I’ve followed for two years over on TV by the Numbers – I love that blog) and see if there is any correlation between the two. As an added bonus, since I’m limiting myself to the new series, I can also add in the cancellation factor and see if that has any relation to the fandom.
Like any good scientist, now that I’ve given you the abstract and introduction, I’m going to move onto the hypothesis. More
