The Fandom Effect (Week 0 – Preliminary Data)

Preliminary data is in!  Well, actually, that’s kind of a lie – it’s been in for a few hours now and I just realised that maybe I should post it.  Any unlisted categories, such as FF.Net, simply don’t have data.  For obvious reasons.

The Fandom Effect (Week 0)

So, the other day, I was thinking (probably during class when I should have been paying attention) about fandom size and viewership if there is any relationship between the two.  Yes, yes, I know – a lame and weird topic, but this is me.  When am I not lame and weird?  Especially with fandom (and numbers).

Long story short, I’ve decided that this season I am going to keep track of the fandom activity of new series as well as the viewership (which I’ve followed for two years over on TV by the Numbers – I love that blog) and see if there is any correlation between the two.  As an added bonus, since I’m limiting myself to the new series, I can also add in the cancellation factor and see if that has any relation to the fandom.
